Scott Pilgrim

To say Rutty is a Scott Pilgrim fan is a bit of an understatement. Last year he got me to ask Toady to bring him back a Scott Pilgrim shirt from Comic Con. He got me to read the books... I'm on book three...what? I've been busy. He also persuaded me to take this picture and enter the Not In New York Contest. We didn't win:( When he heard that Scott Pilgrim was being made into a movie, I think he just about peed himself he was so excited. And all the places we're going to visit in Toronto in September... are all the places from the comic book. Maybe we'll fit Sam's wedding in there somewhere between visiting Honest Ed's and Sneaky Dee's.

So for Rutty's birthday this year it only made sense to make him his very own Scott Pilgrim doll...uh...action figure.

I've been thinking of making him since May but only started on it last Sunday. I asked Rutty to send me reference for what outfit he wanted him in. There's a surprisingly short supply of colour reference online so I made up his shoes and gave him white tube socks with red stripes. His grey jeans roll up for when it gets hot out.

I followed the instructions in Beth Doherty's book: Amigurumi! Super Happy Crochet Cute for the basic shape, like I did with Penelope and Honey.

Happy Birthday, Rutty! <3

Next on my list is Ramona...then Kim Pine...then Stephen Stills... then the evil boyfriends, umm... so they can fight... apparently...

MOO

My orders from Moo finally arrived! And just like the little pink sleeve on the packaging says, how very exciting! Minicards and stickers...I'm anxious to stick them to stuff.

The Girly Viking Hat

I finally started on the order of viking hats for some animator peeps in the Philippines. I have seven to make by Halloween, when Tessa comes back to Vancouver. This first hat is for Tessa, the lovely lady who spear-headed this commission. By special request, her viking hat has a pink fur trim at the base of the horns.

Six more to go....

Pepper Bacon Vodka

I had another batch of Bacon Vodka infusing in the cupboard for a few months. This time I added some peppercorns to the mix for a bit of a kick. I did a shot of it last night, to taste of course, just before I bottled it. The pepper gave it a nice burn that disappears quickly but I found it over powered the flavour of the bacon. Next time I try this, I'll probably add the peppercorns closer to the end of the infusing period so that it's not as strong. The mission to create the perfect bottle of Bacon Vodka continues...
Everyone needs a purpose in life.

The one in the bag is a birthday gift for Tyler, bacon enthusiast.

Bottled Friday, July 10, 2009.

Show Us Your Tats

The next House of Ten "After Dark" art show will be a tattoo art theme show called "Show Us Your Tats". And since this is (apparently) the last After Dark show this will be the last show flyer I design. End of an era... Sniff.
Come out to the show on July 23rd.
