Sweet as Honey

I put the finishing touches on Honey, my very first Amigurumi doll.
Nugget kept saying how she was her favourite doll in the universe. In the UNIVERSE! I guess that means she likes her. I was up till about 1am last night crocheting a little red hat and the bumblebee purse for her. Sadly the little red hat got lost on Main Street this afternoon during our shopping trip to Voltage. Oh well.

Nugget requested button eyes for her, like Coraline. She actually has pink undies on under her skirt. And of course, she has to sport a hoodie.

I embroidered my initials on the bottom of her shoe.

Toddler Eating Bunny

Kayce sent pics of Riley with a bunny chomping on her head. I was concerned about the large buck teeth being in her eyes but it looks alright.

Work In Progress...

Last Saturday I started working on my very first Amigurumi doll. The creation of Earmouse and Stupid Carrots were crochet practice rounds leading up to this attempt based on the humanoid patterns in Elizabeth Doherty's Amigurumi book. I basically jumped from the easiest patterns (carrots and mouse) to the most complicated pattern in the book, except I changed the hair and a bunch of other stuff. Before Nugget went to bed she asked if I could have her finished by tomorrow morning so she could bring her for Show and Tell. I tried. I crocheted my heart out through Buffy night but it's not gonna' happen. It's 1:00 am and the doll only has one leg. I'm thinking of calling her Ilene. Get it? Heh. I'm going to bed.

A Little Late for Easter

I really wanted to make a bunny hat as an Easter gift for one of my favourite kidlets. My plans got delayed as usual but we didn't get to see the little munchkin on Easter anyway so that bought me some time. I started this on Sunday and finished it just now. It's going to be a little big on her but I wanted it to look like the bunny was eating her head.

Chocolate Beret

I just finished the hat I started knitting last night. It's a beret for Nugget with a wooden bead flower embellishment. I needed something to pass the time waiting for the laundry to finish. Only one of the dryers in the building is working. Three hours later and the last of the four loads is finally in the dryer. I hate doing laundry.

Creative Resolution Fail

Life and Strep Throat has gotten the best of me. My goal of creating something every week pretty much failed. After all the Superhero Dance stuff I made a birthday party invite for Nugget's god brother but I'm not really comfortable posting it since it has his photo on it and confidential info regarding the party. It parodies the logo of one of those Disney Channel kid shows that Nugget's age group seems to love and I don't. I had fun doing it though. Nugget's godmother has been trying to get me to post photos of all the invitations I've done in the past. Next to Nugget, she seems to be my biggest fan.

100 Amigos

Last Friday we went to the 100 Amigos art show at El Kartel on Robson Street., 100 artists and all the original artwork was $150. Rutty and I hauled Nugget to the show past her bedtime to expose her to the artwork of some of Vancouver's best local talent, a few of which are good buds of ours (Durka and Pikey just to name a couple). I ended up buying a piece by Eli Horne, an artist I'm not really familiar with. I love drawings and paintings of hands. Which reminds me, I should bug Patricia about my Art of Indecision prints. I don't get to take my painting home till my birthday in June. It's going in my office at work.

I'm on my third month on this Colonix cleanse. I'm pretty much the last man standing from the original group of us that started this in January. I inherited the unfinished kits from a couple of the others making it enough for three months. Still no really weird intestinal alien spore babies. It makes me wonder what kind of horrible crap people eat to get the kind of shits they're having in the photos on the cleanse site. I'm slightly disappointed that my colon hasn't produced anything incredibly bizarre but that's probably a good thing.

I started knitting a hat tonight. I was due for some knit therapy.

Calling All Superheroes

I got into a groove once I decided on how I was going to do the Superheroes Ball poster and ended up working on it till 2:30am finishing it off. I sent a proof to the committee before I went to bed and got some feedback this morning. It sounds like they like it. Now what am I going to wear to the dance...
